A 67-year-old woman from Toronto has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act following a fatal pedestrian accident in North York on January 9. The collision occurred just before 7 a.m. near the westbound Highway 401 off-ramp at Keele Street.
A 34-year-old man was crossing Keele Street when he was struck by a vehicle turning right to travel north. He was hospitalized in critical condition and later died. The driver, operating a grey Hyundai Santa Fe, remained at the scene.
The woman was charged with careless driving causing death on January 29. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
